ReplyDeleteThanks Arti for tryinng this recipe and I am really glad to know that you liked it:)....
ReplyDeleteHi Swapna,
ReplyDeleteCame to ur blog through Ria, nd boy how glad i am!!! Just one question can i use lemon juice instead of Citric acid nd if so wht should the quantity be? Awaiting ur reply.
Thank you Rosemary for visiting my blog :)...
ReplyDeleteI think 1teaspoon Citric Acid is equivalent to the juice of one Lemon.. so in this recipe you need 25gms(almost 6tsps) citric acid.. so you need juice of 6 lemons....hope it will work...
hmm great.. but we can avoid adding grape juice, though. anyhow it tastes great. you have wonderfully presented. i liked the decor bottle as well. check out grape wine made at home at my blogspot.. http://ventej.blogspot.com/2012/05/best-grape-wine-recipe-red-white.html
ReplyDeleteGr8888, Tried Nellikka wine. Without yeast, it was good.
ReplyDeleteI have a doubt in method. Could you please elaborate
"Wait until fermentation is compete, for 21 days. Stir this mixture every day with a wooden spoon" how many days we need to stir? and is it after 21 days?
You have to stir the mixture everyday during the first 21 days not after 21 days.
DeleteThanks Swapna:)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try your beetroot wine for the fourth time..
it was really great:)
Btw.. where are you getting those bottles..

ReplyDeleteSame questions I have -
ReplyDelete1)what kind of yeast u used and did u add it directly to the mixture?
2)what type of dates did u use?
i used dry yeast and yes directly to the mixture
Deletedry dates
1)what kind of yeast u used and did u add it directly to the mixture?
ReplyDelete2)what type of dates did u use?
hi swapna
ReplyDeletehow did u make grape concentrate
I am sorry for asking this silly question, but can you explain me how BHARANI looks like
ReplyDeleteHi Mandeep, Bharani is an earthen pot we use in Kerala.... you can use big glass bottle to make wine... Please do a google search to see Bharani picture:)
DeleteHi, one doubt why strain after boiling? then the main essence of dates will loose na?
ReplyDeleteHi Swapna,
ReplyDeleteQuick question for you, what yeast are you using for your Wine?
Regards,
Cyril.
Hello, you say "Strain this mixture using a cheese cloth or muslin cloth, into a clean dry vessel on 21st day and leave to clear." I've never made any fermented drink before, so I have no idea— how long does it take to clear? Is that a process of minutes or hours or days? How soon is the wine ready? On the 21st day, or is it longer?
ReplyDeleteThanks
I have tried it last month, its awesome.. taste betters with ageing ....
ReplyDeleteAre the dates green ?
ReplyDelete"When cool, strain in a bharani/ bottle and add in the grape juice concentrate. Add the citric acid, yeast and top up the water to around 4.5 liters with cool water. Keep the bottle air tight." In this instruction I have two doubts: 1) can I use active dry yeast? 2) have we to add additional 4.5 liters of water to the strained mixture or is it the total volume of strained mixture and grape juice and addition of more water supposed to be equal to 4.5L ? I HOPE YOU WILL REPLY SOON, I WANT TO TRY THIS !
ReplyDelete1-Yes you can use dry yeast.
Delete2-Only two litres of water is using to boil the dates out of 4 litre water I have mentioned in the ingredient list. So after straining the dates you have to add the rest of the water.
