I was planning on making the beautiful Zebra Cake which is famous in the blog world...... When I saw these Zebra Biscuits in one of the recipe books I have, I thought of trying it first before the cake....... Biscuits came out perfectly and my little one was really amused by the beautiful zebra pattern on his cookies :)...... Try this kid friendly biscuits for those naughty little ones and you will surely win their minds!
Makes 48 biscuits
Ingredients:
For the White dough:
Margarine/ Butter-1/4 cup + 1/8 cup
Powdered Sugar-1/2 cup
All Purpose Flour / Maida-1 ½ cups
Cold Water -4 to 6 tsp
Knead all the ingredients together to smooth dough.
For the Coloured dough:
Margarine/ Butter-1/4 cup + 1/8 cup
Powdered Sugar-1/2 cup
All Purpose Flour / Maida-1 ½ cups minus 6 tsp
Cocoa powder-6 tsp
Cold Water -6 to 8 tsp
A little egg white
Sift cocoa powder with all purpose flour. Knead all the ingredients to smooth dough.
How to Proceed:
- On a grease proof piece of paper roll out the white dough to a rectangle of 4”x12”. Rub a little egg white on top.
- Roll out the coloured dough also like wise and put it on top of the other and remove the top paper.
- Cut it into two halves.
- Rub a little egg white on top of one piece and put the other piece over it as before but seeing that the colours are alternately arranged.
- Remove the top paper. Chill it for some time so that it will be easier to cut in to slices.
- Slice them thinly, arrange on greased cookie sheet and bake till crisp at 325 ° F / 160 °C about 30-40 minutes.
